Database giant gives access to fake firms: "ChoicePoint aggregates and sells [names, addresses, Social Security numbers, credit reports] to private companies" but not individuals. Anyone can register a company, and suddenly have rights and power that no individual has. What distinguishes a fake company from a real company? Perhaps nothing more than a criminal record and/or number of employees. What gives 2-bit corporations more of a right to violate my privacy than the 2-bit individuals who own them?
